You missed the point. The whole point IS to get through it as fast as possible. Sure you miss a few skills but thats a sacrifice you make to get a quicker time. Seriously, go watch like a ff7 speed run and are you going to say "omg he didn't get (insert item/materia/whatever here), how dumb is that video???"

A guildmate and I tried this a few months back, and we (with henchmen) were able to run Prophecies from presearing to completion of Hell's Precipice in about 12 hours. I'm sure people could do it quicker, as we had to stop for smoke breaks, etal. We wound up deleting the characters right after we finished....too funny.

Yeah, using rockets every level just to get a couple of seconds off, or even skip several levels by jumping over something... Saw a movie of someone doing the whole game in 6 minutes or something, took me more like 6 days

I beat Factions in less than 2 days with my Ranger. I took the Kurzick route as well. If I were to do it with someone (aka 2 live, 6 heroes) I could have done it in one day probably.

The thing that makes the speed runs I've watched from other games is the lack of items they acquire to get the job done. Were you to speed run in Guild Wars, you'll still be max level by the end of it, probably have a max damage weapon (even with junk mods), some max armour, and at least a few skills to do your job. If people have boasted about beating the game with nothing on their skill bars and a team full of henchmen I don't think this challenge would be quite as interesting.

I enjoy watching a good speed run, but a Guild Wars run would just be too long and tedious. For a level 20 to run straight from Ascalon to THK is a slow process. I'd do this (before the AI was ruined that is) with my warrior and though I didn't time myself, I would estimate that it took somewhere close to 45 mins.

Now a true speed run would have to be independant, which would mean starting off at pre-, and using your own means to advance through the game (i.e no help from a runner). Skipping missions and taking shortcuts is fine, but even so you'd have to fight/run from Ascalon to THK. The problem here is, the henchmen at Beacon's aren't up to the task of fighting you to Grenth's or Rankor. So you'd need to have to try run yourself through Lornar's sub-level 20, with non-max armor and a handful of skills. Since this isn't a realistic option, the alternative is to fight to sanctum, through the desert, and so on. Just too many hours to even call it a speed run.

You could probably make a video demonstrating how long it takes to start from Ascalon and finish the game by using a level 20. Run from Ascalon to THK, hench/hero 4 missions and you're done. A few hours work, but it wouldn't really be a true speed run.

I recall sometime last year, a player either here on GWG or another forum documenting their "round the world" tour in X number of hours.

They laid down the rules (from pre to Hell's, all missions with bonus), took screen shots of each accomplishment to prove it. It was quite epic and a lot of fun!

how about this, get someone to run you from ascalon to THK, do the mission, then do last 3 missions, get infused somewhere, and thats it. Now that would take a total of 5 hours.

Well that's an awfull waste of time if that is so. You could just create a PvP character.

Why would you speedrun char to postsear when you can just create perma pvp character and use it as mule - if you have GH with xunlai its way faster, abnd pvp character can enter Balthazar temple and make trades with people without sthuffling stuff...

Hmm I think it took me about 48 hrs (not nonstop) to finish GW NF for the first time. Ofcourse it was an lvl 20 character from Tyria, but I can imagine that all missions still take about 30 mins to complete, plus all primary quests in between, so that would net to about 15-20 hrs minimum time it would take.

I am not going to watch a boring 15 hrs video of someone beating the game, so don't bother making it. Nobody will look at it.

Edit: Tyria is the easiest chapter to speedrun, my para got to lvl 20 in Elona, but even before he got to Vabbi, I decided to run himself (paragons are excellent runners) to Ascalon City and complete all missions from there. I finished every mission including bonus extremely fast (due to the fact I had 2 SF heroes). Never taking human players gave me the advantage of not having ppl screwing bonusses. For instance I could do Sanctum + bonus in the same try (get spirit stuck first and summon boat, kill Whites and get spirit unstuck and to shrine). Stuff like killing Glint is VERY easy with heroes set up the right way. I killed Mursaat while I was uninfused faster then they could spam Spectral Agony (plus having a Fast Casting (1/4 sec spells) healer monk to outheal SA). In THK I decided to team up with another human player (he was scared at first, cos I was a Para wielding a sword, but later he was very enthousiastic about it). He was an experienced player as well, and we were having a total of 4 SF eles in party, which could kill ANY group, no matter how big within 4 seconds flat. So we cut through the RoF missions and stuff like a white-hot knife through butter. I think that was my record, though I never recorded how much time it took. So far the Para has just entered Vabbi, so I could look at my total time spend on it, which isnt that much I think.

I got 5 characters through Prophecies in 3 days and with all side quests completed, most Bonus's complete and all outposts visited. And thats without any runs or outside assistance, just me and the henchies.

With the addition of heros, the game can be played thru much quicker. I know I passed Nightfall in about 14 hours from the start of a new character. Im sure there are quicker times out there.

Pre-Heroes, it took me 4 days, about 20 hours, to beat Factions with henchies. This prolly can be done quicker with heroes and getting lucky with the other team being all henchies.

off-topic
I played Legend of Zelda and passed with 0 deaths in about 7 hours back in the days.
played Q3 Defrag a bit...I used to be ok with the circle strafe. Xaero was my bish.
